So. My power went out at around 9:00 the ill-fated Thursday when last I posted. I remember that it was around 9:00 because I was IM'ing Major Steve (safely ensconced in Colorado) and bragging about all the lights I had on, all the power that was flowing from my computer at my fingertips. I believe I had typed something along the lines of "1.2 people in Virginia without power, but not ME!" I obviously should have known better than to tempt Mother Nature, but she usually leaves me alone. I have to blame Isabel, that bitch. ;D

I am pretty bummed about what Isabel has done to my OBX. :( She really must have felt that a lesson needed to be taught, and she was just the one to do it.
She tore up Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk.
She pummelled Ocracoke.
She absolutely kicked ass in Hatteras.

Did you see that movie "Enough" with Jennifer Lopez? I normally don't like her (just in principle, no particular reason, unless it could be that she has a great body, even with a bubble butt, something I find hard to forgive) but I watched this movie, and have to say, it was darned good, critics say what you will about how crappy it was.

I think her character in the movie is something like Isabel. Can you see it too? ;p

Isabel, hell hath no fury! 1.2 million in Virginia without power as of 7:45pm, and that before the brunt of the storm hits Northern Virginia! What will it be when all is done? WHEW! I don't even want to think about the damage to the Outer Banks ... I just can't imagine what tomorrow will show us when they can get more of a comprehensive look at the area.

WELCOME TO MY BLAHG! :D

I, Sharondarella, have been inspired to form my own blog after being temporary blogger host for Fice to the Mook PeeKay over at PhlemBlogger. I sound sooooo cool, saying that, don't I? Ha!

This background is called "Sand Dollar" ... how could I not choose it? Me, a dreamer of OBX dunes? It was en easy choice, since my other options included names like "Herbert" "Example II" "Split Pea" and "Bluebird" (that was my 2nd choice ... maybe if I get tired of looking at Sand Dollar I'll switch.)

OBX is getting battered by Hurricane Isabel right now and I'm sitting in my house swilling a Coke and enjoying the signs of electricity evident everywhere ... we'll see if that's still the case tomorrow. We lost power today for absolutely no reason ... unless it was VEPCO giving us a pre-hurricane dry run? Humph.

On the news they are reporting that people in Alexandria were furious because the city didn't hand out enough free Sandbags. Um, if you were really interested in protecting your property then you should have hauled your butt to the store and bought them. Heck, you should have them stored in your YARD if you live in the flood areas of Alexandria. It floods all the time there, something you'd think the residents expect and are prepared to deal with ... evidently not.

I think they should call Feature Preacher Pat Robertson and see if he can do anything to help them out (perhaps a tidy donation to the 700 Club could help?) since he was so vocal yesterday, defending his home turf in VA Beach, according to this snippet from Yahoo:

Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson prayed on his Christian Broadcasting Network, based in Virginia Beach, that Isabel would turn from the coast. He asked God to put a "wall of protection" around Virginia Beach and the East Coast.

"In the name of Jesus, we reach out our hand in faith and we command that storm to cease its forward motion to the north and to turn and to go out into the sea," Robertson prayed on "The 700 Club."

Heh-heh-heh!
